FiiO announces the global launch of the M21, a sleek and powerful portable digital audio player that pushes the boundaries of entry-level Android-based DAPs. Combining flagship spec hardware elements, rugged design and intuitive retro aesthetics, the M21 brings high-resolution audio into the reach of discerning listeners everywhere.
Flagship DNA
With a compact 4.7‑inch HD IPS screen, the M21 breaks the mold of traditional portable players by offering a sleek, palm-sized interface that’s rich in functionality. Beneath the surface, it’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with Android 13, delivering quick, responsive performance for native and streaming apps. The M21 features 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage (52 GB usable), expandable to 2 TB via microSD, large enough for the biggest of music libraries.
Quad DAC Architecture with Fully Balanced Amplification
At the heart of the M21 are four Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, arranged in a matrix configuration. This architecture minimises crosstalk and noise—while two-stage amplification circuits provide voltage then current gain, creating a clean and dynamic sonic profile.
Desktop‑Mode Power Delivery for Maximised Output
The M21 introduces “desktop mode” - a first for FiiO’s entry-level Android players. When connected via its secondary Type‑C power-in port to an external supply, the M21 bypasses its onboard battery to deliver up to 21 Vpp peak voltage and 950 mW per channel into 32 Ω loads - comparable to high-end desktop DAC/amps. In portable mode, output remains powerful with 15 h battery life for single-ended (3.5 mm) and 11.5 h for balanced (4.4 mm) listening. The Desktop Mode also means the M21 can be easily used as the streaming component of a high-end hi-fi system. The M21 also uses the updated FiiO Control app which offers full control via smartphone alongside settings and advanced PEQ filters.
Retro case!
FiiO offers a retro cassette-tape-style protective case (sold separately) complete with vintage UI and tactile buttons to go completely old school. Images below in the high res gallery.
