Jamo launches HYG 5, a flagship wi-fi speaker designed for modern living

Jamo today launches HYG 5, the flagship all-in-one Wi-Fi speaker in its HYG Series. Combining a streamer, amplifier and active speaker system inside one fabric-wrapped cabinet, HYG 5 brings everything you need for connected home listening together in a single, neatly designed package.
Designed for home comfort
The name takes its cue from hygge, the Danish idea of comfort, calm and togetherness. Think settling into a favourite album, sharing a playlist over dinner or putting on something that makes a quiet evening feel special.
HYG 5 joins a family designed around different ways of listening: HYG Reflect for the bedside, HYG Flow for outdoors and HYG Flex for moving between rooms. Its focus is home listening.
Underneath the seamless textile covering, two 2.5-inch full-range drivers angle upwards and outwards, spreading the stereo image beyond the speaker itself. A 4-inch down-firing woofer handles the bass, working with two symmetrical, flared ports beneath the cabinet. Ribbed port walls help limit unwanted vibration, keeping the focus on the music.
A wave of the palm wakes HYG 5 and resumes the last source, while the touch interface dims in standby. A built-in sensor adjusts the warm ambient light ring as the room lighting changes, and the app offers manual brightness settings, including the option to switch it off.
Danish creative sound agency Unmute developed the HYG Series’ power-on, pairing and other cues, drawing inspiration from Nordic nature and acoustic instruments to give the range its own recognisable sound.
“We wanted music to be easier to enjoy at home. HYG 5 isn’t a system you have to tinker with – it wakes and plays whenever you want, capable and warm, without asking much of the room or of you,” says Guillaume Sirami, Chief Product Officer, Jamo.
Simple connectivity and high-res audio
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn and QPlay II provide familiar routes to favourite albums, playlists and radio stations. AirPlay 2 and Google Cast add casting and multi-room playback, so HYG 5 can easily fit into your multi-room setup.
Bluetooth 5.0 offers a simple, quick way to connect, plus a stereo RCA line input for a record player or CD player. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks for simple set-up, while the HYG 5 also supports audio resolution up to 24-bit/96kHz to make the most of your high-res streaming apps.
The Jamo Play app for iOS and Android takes care of setup and playback control. It also offers personalised EQ, letting listeners adjust the balance to suit their sound preferences.
PRICING AND RELEASE DATE
Recommended pricing is $399, €399, £349 and HYG 5 will launch on Oct 20th.
