Cambridge, UK - Cambridge United Women’s Football Club (CUWFC), in partnership with Majority Audio, has successfully broken the world record for the largest number of Bluetooth speakers played simultaneously during a weekend match against London Bees at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.

The record-breaking moment took place at half time on March 29th, when hundreds of supporters gathered in the stands and across the stadium connected and played Majority Move WR Bluetooth speakers in unison from a single audio source.

The record-breaking moment was made possible by Auracast Bluetooth technology, as featured in the Majority Move WR speaker which joins the current range of Majority Move speakers.

Auracast allows the broadcast of a sound signal to several speakers or headphones at once.

The coordinated playback surpassed the previous world record of 1,000 speakers, held by JBL since 2017, marking a landmark achievement for both the club and Majority.

The event drew a vibrant crowd to the Cledara Abbey Stadium, setting a record attendance for a Cambridge United Women’s game and transforming the match into a celebration of community, sport and sound.

In preparation for the attempt, attendees were invited to collect a Majority Move WR speaker upon arrival. Families, local schools and members of the Cambridge community joined together for the attempt, each activating their device simultaneously during the half-time break. Participants were able to take the speaker home as a a thank-you in helping break the world record.

Eddie Latham, Co-Founder of Majority, said: “We are beyond excited to work with our partners, CUWFC, to have made this world record happen. Auracast is key to Move WR and we're happy that showcasing a really useful feature means we can support the team that are close to our hearts".
Gisela Otten, Chair of the Board of the Cambridge United Football Club Women’s Team, said: “Over the past couple of years, it has been remarkable to see the growth of the game and more women and girls participating in football at the local, national, and international level. We hope that this event sheds light on the fantastic talent within our women’s team and helps inspire the next generation of female players to get involved with football in Cambridge. Our squad have been performing at a high level all season and we’ve achieved some fantastic results. This is not only about breaking the world record, but breaking down boundaries and showcasing what is possible for women and girls in sport".
Guinness World Record Adjudicator Glenn Pollard said "When I first heard about this record, I assumed it would be simple. As it turned out there were many technical hurdles to overcome, not least the issue of ensuring the speakers did not connect to an alternative sound source as dictated by the GWR Guidelines. I have been impressed with the excellent level of planning and organisation displayed by Eddie and his team in achieving this record".

Explainer: what is Auracast?

Auracast enables a wireless speaker to broadcast audio to multiple nearby speakers or listener devices at the same time using Bluetooth LE Audio. At home, one phone could send music to several Auracast-enabled speakers placed around different rooms. In a public space, a signal could reach many headphones which makes it ideal for events and sports audiences.
