Sendy Audio Apollo: Open-back Planar Magnetic Balanced Headphones

Sendy Audio — together with its sister-brand SIVGA — has been producing a range of acclaimed hi-fi headphones with a real-wood finish since 2016.

Sendy Audio Apollo are a balanced open-back design headphone featuring 68mm Planar Magnetic drivers, housed in a real rosewood headphone chamber shell. Whilst ​ historically, Planar Magnetic headphones have tended to be larger and heavier than their dynamic driver counterparts, with the Apollo, the engineering team at Sendy Audio has delivered an ergonomic headphone weighing in at just 395g.

Delivering a wide soundstage, excellent separation and detail, the Planar Magnetic drivers within the Apollo have been designed utilising Quad-Former technology — adopting dual magnets, alongside a dual-coil, placed either side of a central diaphragm — ensuring extremely low distortion and improved musicality. The Sendy Audio Apollo deliver a frequency response of 20Hz - 40kHz, sensitivity of 95dB, and an impedance rating of 16Ω.

With soft memory-foam detachable earcups, and a real leather and stainless steel headband, that delivers just the right amount of clamping force without unnecessary pressure — the Sendy Audio Apollo not only feel lightweight, but are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

The cable connections on the Sendy Audio Apollo are angled so as to ensure the cable falls away from the shoulders when they are being worn. The Apollo are supplied with a braided 2 metre 4.4mm balanced cable. This 6N OCC cable — with 4 strands of braid, each composed of 30 0.08mm cores and 250D break-proof wire — delivers excellent sound quality from balanced sources such as portable DAPs and headphone amplifiers. Also included is a 4.4mm balanced to 3.5mm single-ended adaptor, hemp bag, and leather carrying case.
