Stylophone introduces 'On-The-Fly' to put live performance at the heart of sequencing
The new OTF performance sequencer combines immediate physical control, evolving patterns and modular connectivity for £149, $199, €169

Stylophone introduces the OTF Performance Sequencer, a new addition to its Pro Range and Music Lab series that lets musicians shape melodies and rhythms while their sequence keeps running. With every control ready to hand, OTF brings the spontaneity of playing an instrument to electronic music sequencing.
OTF stands for On-The-Fly, and the approach is simple: start a pattern, reach for a control and hear it change. With no screens or menus to navigate, musicians can adjust pitch, rhythm and playing style as part of the performance, keeping their attention on the music.
Small patterns, big ideas
Program just eight steps and OTF opens up multiple patterns of 16, 32 or 64 steps, with eight pattern chains that can be switched live. Forward, Reverse and Bounce directions offer different ways to move through a sequence, changing its feel without interrupting playback.
There are 24 sequence memories, with per-step pitch and gate duty cycle control. Scale and transpose controls help develop melodic ideas, with transposition available from the onboard knob, CV or MIDI. A simple starting phrase can become the basis for a longer, evolving performance.
John Simpson, CEO Stylophone says "OTF turns sequencing into an instrument. No screens. No menu diving. No clutter. Nothing in the way between your ideas and sound. That's what Stylophone is all about"
Shape your sound
OTF puts detailed rhythmic control within reach. Musicians can add skips, rests, ties, slides, ratchets and controlled randomness to individual steps while the sequence plays, introducing variation as a pattern develops. Slides smooth transitions between notes, while ratchets add repeated triggers within a step. Rests create space, and ties extend notes across steps, giving players ways to alter the phrasing of a sequence as it runs. A manual performance button provides instant variation and movement.
Tempo, swing, lead and lag timing, note length and gate length controls let players adjust how a sequence sits in the groove. Swing moves the rhythm between straight and shuffled. Whether tightening a repeating bass pattern or adding movement to a melody, changes happen in real time. Loop Record captures performances of up to 128 steps, with 24 dedicated memories for loops.
Connect to your wider setup
Designed for Eurorack, MIDI and hybrid systems, OTF includes CV and Gate inputs and outputs alongside MIDI and Sync connectivity. Eight separate gate outputs, one for each step, sit alongside a summed gate output, providing further options for integrating the sequencer into a modular setup.
OTF also supports power from six AA batteries or a 12V DC, centre-positive 1A supply (not included).
Pricing
The Stylophone OTF Performance Sequencer is priced at £149/€169/$199 and launches on November 5th.
