28 February 2024, London, UK: TAIT, the world leader in live experiences, has confirmed partnership agreements with leading industry groups LIVE Green and Music Sustainability Alliance to support the industry-wide mission to advance sustainability awareness and learning.

The Music Sustainability Alliance (MSA) is the hub for the music industry to learn, innovate, and collaborate to advance sustainability in the music business. They provide community, science-based solutions, resources, best practices, and tools for operational change across the industry. This month, MSA hosted the Music Sustainability Summit in Los Angeles, supported by Billboard, which marked a key milestone as the first summit of its kind in North America. TAIT’s Principal Sustainability Advocate, Carol Scott, joined the ‘Haul It All’ panel on the day to discuss what artists and tours are doing today to reduce their environmental and social impact.

LIVE, the voice of the UK’s live music and entertainment business, is a federation of 16 live music industry associations working to ensure that the interests of live music in the UK are understood and communicated to Government, policymakers, regulators, the public and the wider music and entertainment industries. LIVE’s sustainability work is coordinated via LIVE Green. Carol Scott is currently the Chair of this group, working with them to enable all in the live music industry to commit to climate action by providing the necessary support, resources, and advice.

Carol Scott comments, "I believe the whole industry is at its embryonic stages in the sustainability journey, and I see 2024 as a massive opportunity for us to develop and grow. Not just from the sustainability perspective of how do we rethink our material choices or how our audiences travel to the gig, but also how do we rethink our production, where we get our power from and how we utilise it? How do we bring in new and different exciting voices to create that change, and to really reflect the audiences that we serve? I think it is probably one of the most exciting times to be around, we are the first generation to truly understand the impact of human behaviour on the climate and therefore the first generation that can create a sustainable, regenerative way to work and live. Our industry is grounded in creative and innovative thinking, and I believe that we have the capabilities to create real change".
Adam Davis, Group CEO of the TAIT Group comments, “We have a vision for a more sustainable future across the industry and that starts with us, at TAIT. It’s why we’re working to reduce waste and to incorporate more sustainable practices across our businesses, helping to drive positive change and making a difference on a local and global level. Industry-wide change starts with powerful partnerships. In recent years we have supported the Music Sustainability Alliance in North America and LIVE Green in the UK through Carol’s incredible work, and I’m now delighted to formalize these Partnerships.”
Jon Collins - Chief Executive, LIVE Green comments “LIVE is delighted that TAIT has, once again, shown their commitment to sustainability through their support for LIVE Green. Working together, we will be able to accelerate LIVE Green’s work at the heart of a range of projects spanning all aspects of the UK live music sector".
Amy Morrison - President and Co-founder, Music Sustainability Alliance comments “The MSA is thrilled to partner with TAIT and excited to build on the impactful climate action that the company is engaged in. We look forward to collaborating with Carol Scott, who is leading the charge and growing the sustainability community in our industry".

On 27 February, Carol Scott attended the GEI16 Conference in London. Along with industry peers, she spoke to the importance of sustainability topics that affect the live events industry, such as green contract clauses and sustainable set design. GEI is the leading conference for sustainability within the events sector, formed by a partnership between sustainability specialists, A Greener Future, and the International Live Music Conference, the world’s leading platform for the touring, entertainment, and festival sectors.
